Insurance that provides you and your family with financial security in the event of an accident, illness or death is often overlooked when making financial plans. There are many cost effective options available for individuals and their families that can provide peace of mind. If you would like more information please contact us so that we can assist you in deciding what coverage will be right for you.
When you turn 65, you are automatically enrolled in Medicare Part A (hospitalization) unless you request to be disenrolled. If you qualify, Part A is provided to you at no cost. At that time, you will also be enrolled in Part B, which primarily covers physician services. Part B has a monthly premium, which is paid to the Social Security Administration. If you choose not to accept Part B, due to having other health insurance coverage, you must inform Social Security and return the original card they sent you. They will then send you a new card for Part A coverage only.
In addition, if you do not have other prescription drug coverage, you must enroll in Part D coverage, or face a penalty for late enrollment.
Because Part A and Part B have deductibles and co-insurance, you may wish to enroll in a Medicare Supplement policy to cover those deductibles and excess Part B charges.
Another option is to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, which replaces Medicare as your primary insurance. It must cover everything that Medicare does, but you will be responsible for co-payments. The majority of these plans include drug coverage. However, there is a plan available without drug coverage should you be covered elsewhere.
Navigating the Medicare options can be daunting. We are here to help. Please contact us by email or calling our office to schedule an appointment to review your options.
