Tips for Working at Home Amid the COVID-19 Crisis

Under Connecticut law, we at The Reardon Agency are considered essential and remain open for business during the COVID-19 epidemic.  To protect the health and safety of our clients and staff, all team members are currently working remotely, and our offices are closed to the public.  That being said, we remain committed to serving the unique needs of each and every one of our clients, just as we have for the last 53 years.  While we understand that this is a tough transition, we would like to assure our loyal clients that this situation is temporary, and we will resume normal operations as soon as we can.

In the meantime, we invite our clients to reach out with any questions or concerns that they might have.  Please refer to the following guidelines to get into contact with us:

If you are one of the millions of Americans that are currently working from home to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we would like to express our appreciation for your efforts.  We know how difficult this disruption to everyday life can be.  If you are having trouble adjusting to a work-from-home schedule, we invite you to try out these suggestions.

Designate a Home Office Space

If you work from home, then creating a workspace will help you stay focused and help you be more productive.  Even if you don’t have a separate room in your home that can act as an office, it’s still important to designate a space as your workstation.  When you work in the same place consistently, this can help you slip into the right working mindset and will help you avoid becoming distracted.

Set a Schedule

When you work from home, it can be difficult to maintain normal work hours.  Oftentimes, people who work remotely find themselves laboring away far beyond the standard eight-hour workday.  While it’s fine to work overtime occasionally, doing it day after day is a sure-fire way to get burnt out.  To prevent this from happening, you should set a work schedule and do your best to adhere to it every day.  When you have designated starting, ending, and break times, it will make it easier to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Get Fresh Air

Finally, it’s important that you step out and soak up some sunshine and breathe in some fresh air while working from home.  When we are focused on work, we can easily end up staying cooped up for hours upon hours at a time.  This can lead to increased feelings of exhaustion, burnout, depression, and isolation.  To combat these negative effects, you should take frequent breaks to step outside and revive yourself.  While you should limit the amount of time you spend wandering around outside, popping out for a moment of respite is a great way to stave off the blues.

We at The Reardon Agency hope that you and your loved ones are all taking care during this scary time.  While things seem impossible now, there is strength in numbers, and we can overcome anything when we join together.  Please stay safe and remember that we are available for all your insurance needs and concerns.
